News from the homefront (plus an update)

2.06.2014

Well the tragedy of the day is that our tv antenna has up and decided we don't need NBC any more and now I can't watch the Olympics... at least not at home.

I don't need to say that this is a tragedy of MASS PROPORTIONS, that much is obvious. What I would like to say is that if a girl pleadingly requests we get cable for a month just so we can watch the games, what kind of guy says no because he wasn't allowed to get cable for the NCAA finals last year?

What kind of comparison is that?! I actually gasped aloud and launched myself into a passionate debate over sporting event importance, all of which led to nowhere except me drowning my Olympic sorrows in American Idol.

Sad. Day.

The completely unrelated good news of the day is that we had an "actual" snowstorm hit our area, and school has been cancelled for tomorrow, much to the excitement of all, and the extreme relief of one certain 7th grader,  who waited till the very last minute to finish her science experiment and now has an extra three days to turn her results in.

So tomorrow we'll be building snowmen and drinking hot chocolate in front of the fire and doing every other snow-day activity we can think of, until 8 pm hits, by which time I'll have hopefully finagled my way into someone with channel 8's home and will be watching the opening ceremonies.

Fingers crossed.

And now I'll leave you with these pictures from Spirit week at school this week. Because they're cute.

(Extremely cute)
Cousins Blake & Hayden on nerd day.

Kendall & Cooper on 80's day. I'm still patting myself on the back for that fine hair-teasing job!

***IMPORTANT UPDATE*** Friday night Russ stopped on his way home from work and bought me a new and fancy-dancy antenna that WORKS! It's an Olympic miracle! Also... I'm slightly embarrassed that I thought of buying cable before thinking of a new antenna. Duh.
